Not sure if you've seen my Profile in Courage on the Canadian truckers from last March (https://margaretannaalice.substack.com/p/profiles-in-courage-the-canadian), but my contact at Real People's Media (an indigenous peoples' organization that helped document the protests) said about it, "You did a most excellent job. I would say it’s the best and most resource-full on the topic I’ve seen."
I think that there are two major things the truckers succeeded in doing, and cannot be undone. First was to show the world what Canadians are really all about. Second, is how completely out of touch our "representatives" in government, and the people who still believe them really are with the values that have made Canada so great.
I'm pretty sure the whole world saw this on full display during the Trucker Convoy.
I so admired these truckers who drove to Ottawa in the dead of winter in below zero temperatures and wind chill factor, etc. only to get a negative reception from their PM Trudeau as well as other fines and charges, etc.
Thanks Jessica. A maelstrom of emotions went through me watching that video. So proud of the courageous protesters, utter disgust of the government, all parties of the government. I bet some of those law enforcement personnel feel a soul sickness that will never leave them. I for one have lost all trust of Canadian governance, legal, health, law enforcement systems. The layers of lies and corruption go so deep that it’s a gangrenous limb in need of amputation.
How I would love to put Canada in front of this film Clockwork Orange style. My Canadian family and friends, many of whom held me in their arms as a baby, now think of me as medically and ideologically dangerous. They've made up "their minds" based on whatever CNN or Google says. I still can't get them to watch a video, read an article or listen to anything. If they do see something incontrovertible, all I get is silence or the blank stare. It's hard for me not to see the majority of state of Canada as still in complete psychological disrepair. Nothing can take away the love I have for the beauty of Canada and the few remaining who have not turned their backs. I don't like to admit to this fear but I think beneath my anger and frustration, I'm scared of the banality of evil that has taken root there. I face this fear with help from my spiritual grounding and all of you on substack. And Jessica Rose is a fucking ninja.
Being there in Ottawa last Jan/Feb was one of the best experiences of my Canadian Life. The kindness, happiness, and acceptance that was there for all to see and experience, if they really wanted to, will stay in my heart forever. I had always been a proud Canadian. When this scamdemic started, I wondered if I would ever feel proud again and then BOOM - the amazing truckers started driving and supporters stood out on bridges and highways (I was there too), half frozen to wave our Canadian flags to these truckers and to hear their honking in return. I will never forget the 2 weekends spent in Ottawa meeting people from all over Canada - there for the same reason - to make our voices heard.
Thank you Jessica. I felt let down being a Canadian and BAM! you bring this to the table. I'm completely alone here in Rockland surrounded by zombies that go on the defensive if I try to open discussions. Internet is all I have and now I have one more Canadian truth teller to add to my limited list. VERY much appreciated.
Thank you for posting this. Tears of immense sadness and joy simultaneously. The Truckers were the proverbial crack in the vessel that let in the light!
I was a trucker in the 80’s and after retiring from a different career in 2018, went back to the industry as a part-time driver - not because I need the money, but to get out of my wife’s hair and keep busy doing something I enjoy. When the pandemic started, some of our drivers stayed home, so I ended up covering their work. This is a regional carrier in western BC with a workforce of about 40.
Out of the 40, only a handful of us avoided the vaccine, although it was never mandated as none of us run south. Several got sick from it, one was permanently disabled. Out of the 40, less than a dozen supported the convoy. Most thought it was a waste of time or were vehemently opposed and completely bought into the official narrative. So no different from anyone else in the workforce.
One one trip to Vancouver I was approached by a guy in his 50’s who started heaping praise on me for continuing to work and support my family! True enough, I felt obliged to keep working as we were short-handed and someone had to haul the groceries. I knew that wasn’t what he meant though. He was taking a shot at the convoy, so I said, yeah, well I’d be in Ottawa myself if I could afford the fuel. Guy flew into a rage and started ranting about how he’d served his country in Afghanistan, and how I had no idea what it was like to have people shooting at me! A real nut case. I felt like saying too bad they missed, but that would have pushed him over the edge, so I just rolled up the window and ignored him.
From my own conversations with truckers, I can say that out of those I spoke to, only a handful supported the convoy. Opinions varied from it was the wrong approach, to they're hurting the industry, to they're all a bunch of nut cases, which some clearly were. Likewise, most succumbed to the propaganda and supported the vaccine mandates, in fact I had a heated argument with one of them, and after that I just shut up about it. He later got sick and couldn’t work anymore. Vaccine? Probably. He had a bad reaction on the first go-round and the second shot probably finished him off.
The people who went to Ottawa, not just the truckers, ALL of them, have my admiration and also had my financial support (or would have if my donation wasn’t returned by GFM, and then simply stolen when I tried a different approach). I think it’s important to keep some perspective though. Not everyone was there for the right reason, and a number of them acted in a way that discredited the movement. The media focused on them of course, and this points to the danger of these kinds of protests, best example being the US capitol protest where it was obvious that agent provocateurs stirred up the crowd and led the move into the capitol building. All this goes to say, chose your battles wisely people. Keep your head about you, and maintain a healthy skepticism towards everything you see and hear, because this isn’t a game they’re playing. This is just part of something much bigger, which signals the end of US global hegemony and a complete restructuring of the world as we once knew it.
Wonderful to see the truckers are finally getting the recognition they deserve!
Jessica, do you know about the "Trucking for Freedom" documentary series?

Looking forward to the end of The Turd Reich.

Gotta love the canadians with spine
and detest their PM and deputy PM.
I will never forget just watching a video of the one dance party and crying because I wanted to be there so bad

Oh Man. Thank you so much for posting this Jessica.
The Convoy and ALL the people in Ottawa I saw were exactly how I want our beautiful world to be.
Needed this so bad right now with the ACIP for, from and to hell going on and praying the comments we all write reach God's ears.

The Trucker Convoy changed the world.
May God bless each and every one involved.
Thanks for the heads-up! Incidentally, these days I download the video before I watch it in case it gets taken down.

Beautiful. "Freedom is the most valuable resource." Yes it is.
